Record Show Convention

July 29th, 2008 by THE EARL

This past weekend was the monthly Orange County Record Show in Buena Park, a record lovers paradise. Just as is the case when you find that shop or event like the Dunkxchange for all you sneaker addicts; the record show can be a vinyl enthusiasts chance to fill up the stock in their collection. With this event, you have a chance to meet some record dealers and other vinyl heads that are down for the same cause, VINYL. Serato users need not apply for this show, strictly vinyl. Along with the vendors, you’ll might be lucky to bump into your favorite local Hip Hop producer: Dj Numark, Madlib, Cut Chemist, Evidence, Alchemist, J-Rocc, Dj Babu are just a few of the many that will attend these events. EBAY is always an easy alternative on buying records, but the record show allows for inspection of the vinyl and there is always the $1 bins that are waiting to be picked through, to find that gem that you have been waiting for. For upcoming shows visit www.asavinyl.com. Until next time, keep diggin’…

DXC Celebrates 3 Years

July 27th, 2008 by ROB ONE

Congratulations to our homies Gary and Curtis from Dunkxchange for hittin’ their 3 year mark. It was dope to be out there to celebrate their hard work and efforts. It’s always a positive vibe at these shows because it’s a pretty safe place for kids to try to get their hustle on and at the same time listen to some dope music. I was able to come up on a pair of Jordan IV Black Cats in exchange for some Nike Jordan Dunks. Some cat was tryin’ to slang the Nike Marty McFly Hyperdunks for $1500…I think the dude sold ‘em, too (props to him). Shout out to DJ Butta representin’ all the way from the NYC (see you at cerritosallstars), and DJ Erok from Ek5obition (yo, I still want that Original Gun Clappers t-shirt brotha). Mad props to Anthony & Michael for helpin’ us out. Check out some of the photos at the show.

Gunnin’ For That #1 Spot: Review

July 7th, 2008 by WU

What up ya’ll, summer is in full swing and the theaters are jam packed. If you want a break from all the action, superhero, fantasy blockbusters of the summer and want to watch a great documentary, check out “Gunnin’ For That #1 Spot”. On his second documentary feature film, Adam Yauch a.k.a MCA covers the first annual Elite 24 All-Star Game at Rucker Park.  The game showcases the top 24 high school players in the nation from 2006. The documentary interviews and follows eight players from their hometown to the “Elite 24″ game in NYC. Our man Bobbito Garcia MC’ed the game with his comedic personality and his profound ability to give players nickname(s)….some have stuck with the players and some the players wish will go away. Overall this was a great documentary with dope tracks and sick camera angles.  Definitely worth my $10.  If you haven’t seen it check your local theaters or go to www.gunninmovie.com.
