Believe In Me

January 31st, 2008 by WU

This film is based on the novel Brief Garland by Oklahoma author Harold Keith, which is a novel based on Keith’s real life nephew Jim Keith. Clay Driscoll (played by Jeffrey Donovan) becomes the unexpected head coach of the girl’s high school basketball team in Middleton, Oklahoma after learning that the job that he was originally hired for went to “someone more qualified”. Clay decides to stay with the Lady Cyclones as they try to achieve the unbelievable - the State Championship. This film is very similar to the other feel good sport movies that have been released lately. It’s a very charming and inspirational film that can be watched with your family.

January 12th, 2008 by ROB ONE

My man Joe Bruin felt that we should share a video with all of you…and I agree with him. So here it is. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s Russell Westbrook from UCLA bangin’ over Jamal Boykins of Cal earlier this year. Peep it out. Big ups to my man Joe for showin’ us support.

Jordan XX3

January 10th, 2008 by ROB ONE

Jordan Brand finally revealed the highly anticipated Jordan XX3 today, so I figured I add my 2 cents in. I must say that I had mixed feelings about how the outcome of these sneakers were gonna look like. I was actually comparing the continuous release of a new pair of J’s to all the Friday the 13th movies. They keep coming out with a new one every time. But it’s all good though…these joints lived up to the hype and I’m sure glad that they keep coming out. I’ve been gettin’ used to seeing all the “retro sneakers” out there lately and it’s great to finally see some fresh designs. I’m glad that they didn’t put out some wild colorways on them, and just kept the design classy, modern and sleek. Perfect pair for a Black Tie occasion.

An exclusive limited release of the Air Jordan will launch on Friday, January 25th (White Titanium/University Blue) with a suggested retail price of $230 and also during the NBA all-star weekend available on Saturday, February 16th (White/Black/Varsity Red) at a price tag of $185. The nationwide launch will be released on Saturday, February 23rd (Black/Varsity Red/Stealth) at a retail price of $185. Information and photos courtesy of Freshness Magazine. Peep out the video and photos.

Basketball Man

January 5th, 2008 by WU

Does anybody know a man by the name of Dr. James Naismith? Well I thought I did. I watched a documentary called “Basketball Man” directed by Burt Kearns. This documentary tells the story about how the game of basketball started and the man that invented it. This film takes you to the beginning of the simple game and how the rules and game changed to adapt to the players and their abilities. It has great vintage footage and personal interviews with basketball superstars of the past and present. One of the highlights of the film was the last interview with Red Auerbach. Even during his last days he speaks about this game so passionately. Check out the trailer. For more info go to www.basketballmanmovie.com.

No Excuses!

January 2nd, 2008 by ROB ONE

Let’s start off the New Year with a very inspiring commercial produced by Nike that shows Matt Scott, a wheelchair basketball player who plays for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks wheelchair basketball squad.  Matt is currently leading the 11-0 Warhawks with an average of 17.5 points along with 6.4 rebounds per game.  Matt who is coping with Spina Bifida, was asked to shoot this commercial, which to me is one of the most inspiring commercials set out by Nike.  To read more about Matt’s amazing career, log onto www.uww.edu.  Check out the commercial.
