Bobbito in Africa

January 21st, 2010 by ROB ONE

Check out this post from Bobbito Garcia during his recent trip out to Senegal, West Africa.  He was invited by the SEEDS Foundation, to coach clinics as part of their ‘Grow The Game’ program.  It’s always great to read about people’s experiences when they travel to remote areas.  But it’s even more greater to read articles that end up inspiring us.  Check out the post on http://www.bouncemag.com/2010/01/19/from-deep-roots-seeds-and-trees-in-senegal-west-africa/.   Notice the photo of Bobbito representin’ BBJ to the fullest all the way down in Africa.  Bobbito ended up giving his BBJ lid to one of the coaches out there who works with all these kids on a daily (very well deserved).  Yo Bob - thanks for spreading the love!  Photos: Brian Benjamin.

Lamar X Trevor X Shannon

June 28th, 2009 by ROB ONE

I just got back from the Frank and Son Collectible Show this afternoon and it wasn’t a typical Saturday for all the regulars that usually show up.  The place was jam packed and you would think that you were celebrating at a Laker parade with the sea of purple and gold in attendance.  The reason for the madness…Lamar Odom, Trevor Ariza, and Shannon Brown were there signing autographs.  Even a ghetto bird circled around the area.  Peep some of the photos.

That Ain’t Right

January 22nd, 2009 by ROB ONE

You see what happens when you try to be fundamentally sound on defense???  Don’t try to be a hero and take a charge.  There’s only a 50% chance the ref will call it your way.  I’d rather not take those odds.  You might end up getting nutted on!  Like Jarrett Johnson did to this guy, who shall remain nameless.

Kobe or No Kobe

January 7th, 2009 by WU

A few weeks back Kobe Bryant appeared on video during the popular game show Deal or No Deal.  Kobe offered the contestant, Davon Clark (a huge Kobe & Laker fan), 2 tickets to a Lakers home game, a trip to Hawaii to watch 1 training camp practice and 2 exhibition game in Hawaii, hang out with Kobe after one of the games and an autographed pair of Kobe’s shoe (Nike Zoom Kobe III).  All Davon had to do was accept the $388,000 deal.  What would you do?  Davon did the sensible thing and took the deal.  Like he said, “Don’t be greedy!”  Great job Davon.

Superstar Basketball

October 13th, 2008 by ROB ONE

Yo, if you’re in the SoCal area and lookin’ for a dope basketball league…peep out Superstar Basketball League located in Walnut, California.  Here they got everything including a website dedicated to the league, Sortable Statistics, Player of the Week accolades, Top 5 Games of the Week, an Awards Show, and something I was able to check out for myself, the All-Star Game loaded with a 3-point contest and a dunk contest  (To check out some of the dunks - Click Here).  This league has definitely gotten some attention these past couple of seasons.  With some familiar names playing in the league like Tracy Murray, Cameron Murray, Lamond Murray, Sean Rooks, Jeff Trepagnier, and The Game.  It’s a recreational league with all the bells & whistles, and you can check them out on www.superstarbasketball.org.  Big ups to my man Hanz for doin’ the damn thang!  Check out some of the photos during my visit.

More Than A Game

September 10th, 2008 by WU

Just this past weekend Toronto International Film Festival premiered the documentary by Kristopher Belman “More Than a Game”. The film documents the journey of Lebron James, Dru Joyce, Romeo Travis, Willie McGee, and Sian Cotton and their incredible run at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School that concluded with a national title in 2003. “More Than a Game” has not been purchased by a studio yet, but word is Lionsgate is interested in it. We’ll keep you posted on the latest news and hopefully a trailer soon.

Who Made You?: Kobe Bryant

August 7th, 2008 by RICHIE RICH

Check out this pretty cool Kobe Bryant interview. The interview actually shows us a lighter side of Kobe, that we rarely get to see on TV. Kobe opens up about a lot of things, some of which include his family, his childhood, his move to Italy, and his decision to go Pro straight out of High School. Overall, Kobe credits his parents for making him who he is today and really gives his mom and dad credit for everything they have done and sacrificed for him.

Nike: Road To Redemption

August 5th, 2008 by ROB ONE

Check out this mini series presented by Nike called Road To Redemption.  It contains great footage of the 2008 USA Olympic Basketball Team going for the Gold in Beijing and their road to redemption.  There’s a total of 5 episodes to watch with multiple parts to each episode.  You can see the first 3 episodes on www.nike.com with the 4th one droppin’ tonight on ESPN.  The last episode will release on August 8th, just before their first game against China on August 10th.  Check out some of the video…definitely worth watching.  Gives me the goose bumps!

Gunnin’ For That #1 Spot: Review

July 7th, 2008 by WU

What up ya’ll, summer is in full swing and the theaters are jam packed. If you want a break from all the action, superhero, fantasy blockbusters of the summer and want to watch a great documentary, check out “Gunnin’ For That #1 Spot”. On his second documentary feature film, Adam Yauch a.k.a MCA covers the first annual Elite 24 All-Star Game at Rucker Park.  The game showcases the top 24 high school players in the nation from 2006. The documentary interviews and follows eight players from their hometown to the “Elite 24″ game in NYC. Our man Bobbito Garcia MC’ed the game with his comedic personality and his profound ability to give players nickname(s)….some have stuck with the players and some the players wish will go away. Overall this was a great documentary with dope tracks and sick camera angles.  Definitely worth my $10.  If you haven’t seen it check your local theaters or go to www.gunninmovie.com.
